The scene hairstyles are beautiful? Do you love these scene hair?
Don't trust your hairdresser? Or just want to create what's on your head simply your way? Whatever the reason, there is one solution: Cutting your own Hair! Scary? No, if you know how to start, and prepare all the ingredients.
Things you'll need:
good quality sharp and light scissors
razor
large wall mirror
another one smaller to see the back of your head
protective towel to cover your arms
First, get some good quality scissors, sharp, light and sitting comfy in your hands - you don't need to buy professional pair, try to find one in the kitchen / writing desk. You'll also need some protective towel on your arms - to cover your clothing from the hair falling down while cutting. Now, the most crucial part - locate the wall mirror (ideally in the bathroom). Stand in front of it, and try to install small mirror somewhere behind you - on the window seal / cupboard, to see the reflection of back of your head, when standing in the front of wall mirror. Now, you are ready for action, baby!
So you get the idea how you want your hair to look like - that's great.
- Start cutting from the bottom layers going gradually to top layers - it's much easier that way. You can clip your hair together on the top of your head, to help you reach bottom layers first. Bottom layer can be as long as you wish, think as long as Audrey, or short as Katie Babyfayce.
- Wash your hair, or spray it with water, if you prefer to cut your hair wet - that way it's easier to get more consistent look. Also remember to cut your damp hair 1 - 2 cm longer, as it will wave in natural way and become slightly shorter when dry.
- Grab thin strand, hold it horizontally and cut at desired length. If you're happy with it, grab another one together with first one and cut at the same length. Repeat until you cut all the bottom layer.
- Release another layer from the upper hair - about 1 cm wide - and let it down on your neck - now cut it the same way as the bottom layer. You can cut every layer slightly shorter then the previous one from the bottom.
- Keep checking in back mirror, if you are still happy with the look and the length.
- After cutting all bottom layers, it's time to get to top layers - crowning of all your work - it's the most importand part, giving you loads of possibilities for creating your own look!
- If you're after Scene Hair, top layers will be short and chopped with messy look. Ideal length is to your chin, with shorter fringe.
- Grab single hair strand, hold it horizontally and cut with your razor - that way you'll get ideal choppy look, which can easily be styled, teased etc. Put your razor in a mid way to your desired length, and cut it delicately down along your hair. Don't cut your hair at once with a razor - they need to be layered - thick from the top and thinner at the ends. Repeat that with all top part of your hair.
- Now the fringe - part your hair in favourite way, and start layering with the razor. If you want your fringe to sit comfortably on the side of your face, create the length to your cheekbones. Layer it gradually with a razor.
- Fringe is very important in Scene Hair, it needs to be created from few layers, optionally with different shades and lengths - check the pictures of Audrey, Katie and other Scene Queens to know exactly what you're after.

That last picture is freakin scary... Some girls just assume skinnier = prettier. Scary.
Wow this article is a really god awful attempt at "breaking down" a haircut it's pathetic. I'm a licensed hair stylist and the entire breakdown was incorrect and just plain stupid. I'm tired of fixing other peoples ugly hideous haircuts because they decided they were smart enough to know how to cut their own hair. It takes years to understand the true technical and correct approach to cut hair. Its like a blank canvas that only a trained artist can correctly cure. Grow a brain people!!! See a professional!
Hallo :D
Ich au Scene XD
the first and second girls are pretty, but the third is creepy...i agree with the hair stylist girl...i dont trust MYSELF with a sharp object behind my head...haha.

ADD COLORS.
the third girl is the most gorgeous girl ive ever seen tbh!
i used to cut my own hair and now have it cut professionally. im 18 now so i've kind of outgrown this look, but to be honest i prefer how it was then to how my hair is now.
some hairdressers don't give you want you want (though i'm sure not all of them are like that).
it's your hair so if you want to save money and do it yourself then go on. just don't do a britney.
Ohh myy gosh! i love the third one, and my friend has that all time low shirt!!!! http://www.myspace.com/427103400 ◄ that would be moii
I cut my own hair, I am 13 and I do a damn good job. I dont look like shyt and I dont see a professional.
Bullshit.
Cutting your hair requires technique, yes, but technique doesn't require a license per se.
I get compliments on my hair fairly frequently and I do it myself.
I've even branched out and starting doing others hair for a cheaper price.
They're happy, I'm happy.
Sure some idiots butcher their hair,
but some make for some marvelous haircuts. : ]
i cut my own hair, and you cant just get scene hair the first try. it took me a while to understand everything about my hair. my hair is slightly scene. but it took many tries and im still not finished. scene hair is gradually developed.

i just started cutting my hair,
for a more scene look,
and i do a fuckin' rockin' job.
don't tell me not to cut my hair, because what if i become a hairstylist? who gives a damn.
it's your head, and your hair.
do whatever the fuck you want with it.
mhk? mhk.
i'm twelve && i've been cutting my hair for six months now, && the first time i did it, people were like, "where'd you get your hair done? it`s cool" && they didn't believe i had done it myself. people still don't believe when i tell them.
ehem lol. the "proffesionals" always always always! have messed up my hair. and i explain to them in great detail how i want it and they still screw it up. i dont think that an illistrated diagram would even help them. thus from now on i am cutting my own hair. >.<
Quote of previous ill-informed poster. "im a hairstylist and im just saying if your gonna cut other peoples hair dont get caught you can get a big fat fine and its like 250-500 dollars if you get caught cutting hair with out a hair liscens im just telling you hehe :))"
Sir or Madam;
You are allowed to cut other people's hair without a license, you cannot set up a salon or studio and present yourself as a licensed professional. Fact.
I love these hairstyles!
PFT "Proffesionals" my ass. half the "preoffesionals" out there shouldnt have a damned liscense. always i go to get my hair cut in this style, always they fuck it up. im 15. cut my hair once, my neighbor who was in cosmo school and now works in a proffesional beauty salon says i did a fantastic job :P
i cut and color my own hair and it comes out awesome thank you very much :D
Last time i went to the salon to get a scene hair cut they screwed it up
so when my hair grows out im cutting it.
ohh dayumm. i cut my hair ALL the time. almost every day. i've screwed up, yes and hated myself fer it :/ but, as long as it takes, it grows back. i got my hair done profeshly once and it turned out not too bad. guess i got lucky. but if yur gunna do it yurself and try n get this look, listen to this chicka and use a razor. deff works waaayy better [;
xoxo
